Currently January

I get all giddy when it is time for Farley's Currently Linky Party.  Join the fun by heading over to her blog.

I also want to take this time to wish all my fellow bloggers a happy new year! Crossing my fingers that 2013 will be a great year for me because 2012 was not all that great.

Downtime

I decided to join the fun with some awesome bloggers for New Years Resolution.  Join the fun today by heading over Amy Lemons: Step into 2nd Grade with Mrs. Lemons!

An issue I have is making too many New Years Resolution and only working on it for the first week of January.  Then it is out the door.  Maybe I need to make resolutions that are more practical.

Downtime....hmmm what is that? A resolution of mine is to get things ready and done for next week before I go home on Friday.  I find myself spending way too many hours at school on the weekends.  I would love to spend the weekends hanging out with my boyfriend and my fur babies instead of going in my classroom.

Also, leave work early so I can attend Zumba classes.  I just LOVE to socialize so I find myself chit chatting away until 5 pm instead of being productive.  So another resolution is less socialize and get more work done so I don't have to come in on the weekends and can go to zumba classes!

Daily Five My Way

So I am a huge fan of Daily Five and have been doing it exactly that way the "two sisters" suggested.  With my class this year, we are not quite independent and cannot seem to make the right choices.  When we come back from Winter Break, we are making changes to our Daily Five (literacy block).  My kinders are no longer doing Read to Self because I feel like they are not truly reading to themselves and it wasn't a good use of time.  Being the organizational freak that I am, I whipped up a schedule with two rotations everyday.  I meet with my two lowest guided reading groups 4 times a week, my middle group 3 times a week, and my two highest groups twice a week.  I am excited and looking forward to our newly adapted Daily Five block.

Below are the guided reading groups I will meet outside of literacy block to ensure that my lowest two groups are being met 4-5 times a week, my two highest group 2 times a week, and middle group 3 times a week.

If you have any suggested, I would love to hear them.
