Sneak Peek Into My Classroom

As some of you may know, I moved room this year since I will be teaching first grade.  I am excited and looking forward to this journey.  I have heard from others that first grade was the best grade to teach.  Right now I will beg to differ because I think kindergarten is pretty awesome but we will see.  I'm glad that I will have about half of my students from last year.  I do not know the exact count since I have not seen my class list.  We have 13 more days until the first day of school.  I don't know about you but I am so darn excited for school to start.  Since I am moving on to first grade and the kids are much more independent, I thought I try some new things this year.  I got rid of my behavior clip chart and will implement super improvers wall from Whole Brain Teaching instead.  I will also be implementing CAFE this year with firsties.  I think it is important to teach students various reading strategies and CAFE will help me do so.  In addition to new grade level this year, I will also have a yearlong student teacher.  I am so excited and can't wait to meet him/her.  This will be a learning opportunity for both of us and I am sure it will make me a better teacher.  Okay, I can go on and on but I won't bore you.  I will leave you with some pictures of my classroom.  Some pictures may repeat but oh well :)

Summer is Coming to an End!

Okay I know some of you may or may not be sharing the same excitement as I am but I can't wait until school starts!  I officially have one more week left until I go back to work for meetings.  Technically 3 days since I have two meetings this week but who's counting.  I am looking forward to teaching first grade, pursuing my National Board, and having a student teacher :)   I am ready for this challenge!  As I am getting ready to prep for the beginning of the school year, I struggled finding math centers that I liked.  I was spoiled because there are awesome kindergarten teachers out there.  I am not saying that there aren't any fabulous first grade teachers but I just didn't have the time to search.  I found a solution for my problem and created my own math centers for beginning of the year first grade.  If you like to purchase, click on the link below.

Currently August

Wow, this summer sure did fly by.  I am excited that summer is coming to an end because this girl cannot stand the heat.  My favorite season is coming up next, Fall!!  This past week I was attending a 4 day National Board Jump Start event.  It was so helpful and hopefully I am some what prepare for my national board.  I am looking forward to the new school year in a new grade level.  So excited! I can't wait for school to begin.  I know, call me crazy :)
